    What is Gallstones?

Gallstones are hard deposits in the gallbladder that form over time. The most common gallbladder disorder is the formation of gallstones. Gallstones form when excess cholesterol in the bile crystallises, preventing the gallbladder from properly emptying. They can be as small as a grain of sand or as large as a golf ball. Cholecystitis is a condition in which the gallbladder becomes inflamed and/or infected. Although antibiotics can treat an infection, gallstones that form repeatedly often necessitate laparoscopic gallstone surgery.

    Causes

There is too much cholesterol in bile.

There is too much bilirubin in the bile.

The gallbladder does not empty properly.

    Digestive problems

    Estrogen excess resulting from pregnancy

    Symptoms

    Chills and a high fever

    dark urine or clay-colored stools

Intense pain in the right shoulder and central abdomen

    Heartburn and other digestive issues

    Diagnosis

To identify gallstones, the best healthcare professionals talk about the patient’s medical history. To diagnose gallstones, they perform a physical examination and recommend imaging tests. During the physical examination, the doctor will examine the patient’s body, inquire about their diet, and check for abdominal pain. The tests may include:

Blood tests are used to determine the amount of bilirubin in your blood and how well your liver is working.

A tiny camera is threaded down your GI tract to help the doctor identify gallstones stuck in your bile duct during endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

Abdominal ultrasound and CT scan: To obtain a better image of the gallbladder and to assess the presence of gallstones.

    Procedure

Cholecystectomy is the medical term for gallstone removal surgery.Womanz Health’ss experts advise laparoscopic surgery. The doctor makes a small incision and inserts a laparoscope with a tiny video camera mounted on top and surgical tools during laparoscopic gallstone surgery.

The surgeon inserts the tube, camera, and tools, and performs the surgery while watching a TV monitor to remove the gallstones. Furthermore, the recovery time is significantly reduced, and scarring is minimal.

    FAQ's

    Frequently Asked Questions

Gallstones typically cause a sharp pain in the upper right side of the abdomen. Gallstones can also cause a sharp pain in the middle of the abdomen, just beneath the breastbone.

Without a gallbladder, you can live a normal life. Your liver produces enough bile to help you digest your food. You must first exercise caution when it comes to your diet.

Gallstones can become inflamed and cause inflammation, among other serious complications, if they are not treated. It could cause pus to form inside the gallbladder, the organ to die, or the inflammation to spread to other organs nearby.

People usually return to their normal routine 3-4 days after laparoscopic surgery. For a quick and speedy recovery, avoid strenuous activities and follow post-surgery instructions.

Gallbladder surgeons can either remove the entire gallbladder or just the bile duct stones. Cholecystectomy is the surgical procedure for completely removing the gallbladder. To remove the gallbladder, the doctor may use keyhole surgery or laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

The medical assistance team will begin the paperwork and formalities as soon as you arrive at the hospital for gallstone treatment. The surgeon will review the test results before proceeding with the procedure. Before the surgery, the doctor will check your vital signs and see if any additional tests are required. If everything appears to be in order, you will have gallstone surgery.

Gallstones do not always necessitate surgery. There is no need for surgery if your gallstones are not causing any severe symptoms. Gallstones can cause excruciating pain if they block the bile duct or if any of the stones become stuck. The complication is called a ‘gallbladder attack,’ and it necessitates surgery.

There are a number of well-known clinics that treat gallstones. Womanz Health is one of those well-known brands. Womanz Health have modern medical infrastructure and doctors who are highly trained to provide the best gallstone consultation and treatment.

Gallstones in the bile duct can be removed without surgery using a scope. To proceed with diet-based gallstone removal, we recommend consulting with  surgeon.

Gallstones surgery (cholecystectomy) is only recommended if the severity of your gallstones is severe and if your doctor believes it is the best treatment for your condition. Cholecystectomy is the laparoscopic surgical procedure for removing a gallstone. Cholecystectomy can be performed using either open or laparoscopic surgery. The doctor will decide whether to perform surgery to remove the stones only or the entire gallbladder, depending on the number of gallstones.

When the gallbladder forms multiple stones, surgery for gallstones is usually recommended. In addition, if the patient is in excruciating pain, the doctor may recommend surgery to relieve the pain caused by gallstones. The doctor may also advise surgery to avoid sepsis, gallstone recurrence, and other potentially fatal complications.

Gallbladder removal, also known as cholecystectomy or gallstone surgery, is a safe procedure with a low risk of complications. Every surgical procedure carries some risk and complications, but these are extremely uncommon in the case of gallbladder laparoscopic surgery.

The following are some of the complications that patients have reported:

    • Damage to blood vessels
    • Anesthesia side effects
    • Blood clots,
    • Internal bleeding,
    • Bile duct injury.

These complications are uncommon and can be avoided entirely if the patient has the surgery performed by a skilled laparoscopic surgeon.

The surgeon may request that the patient undergo a few tests prior to the laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, including:

    • Blood test
    • An imaging test of the entire abdomen
    • Ultrasound of the gallbladder

The doctor may also inquire about your medical history and whether you are taking any medications or supplements. It is critical for the patient to inform the doctor about all medications he or she is taking as well as any underlying health issues prior to surgery. The patient should arrange for someone to accompany him or her to the surgery and drive him or her home on the day of the procedure. Before laparoscopic gallbladder surgery, the patient should not eat or drink anything for a few hours. The patient should also bring some basic necessities with him or her to the surgery in case he or she needs to stay in the hospital for a day or two.

Under the influence of general anaesthesia, laparoscopic surgery for gallbladder removal is performed. The surgeon will insert a tube into the patient’s throat, which will connect to a ventilator that will assist the patient in breathing.

The surgeon makes small incisions in the abdomen and guides a tube with a lighted camera through it during laparoscopic surgery for gallbladder removal. The camera allows the surgeon to see the abdomen more clearly.

The abdomen is inflated with gas to make the surgery easier to perform. The doctor removes the gallbladder and closes the incisions through the tiny incisions. The patient will be relocated to a private room where his or her vital signs will be monitored after surgery. The patient will be allowed to go home the same day if there are no complications.

The gallbladder is a pear-shaped organ on the right side of the liver, beneath the liver. Gallbladder aids in the digestion of fatty foods. The liver will continue to produce enough bile after the gallbladder is removed, but the patient may have difficulty processing fatty foods. As a result, doctors advise patients to avoid fried and spicy foods, as well as high-fat foods and foods that cause gas.

Patients should eat after gallbladder removal –

Oats, peas, beans, barley, lentils, nuts, and sprouts are all high-fiber foods.

Cauliflower, cabbage, brussels sprouts, spinach, tomatoes, kale, avocados, blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries are all immune-boosting fruits and vegetables.Salmon, chicken breast, turkey, trout, and tofu are examples of lean meats. Milk, yoghurt, mayonnaise, and ice cream are examples of foods high in healthy fats.

After gallbladder removal surgery, avoid the following foods:

    1. bacon
    2. pork
    3. beef
    4. sausage
    5. red meat steak
    6. full-fat cheese
    7. full-fat yoghurt
    8. processed bread
    9. cinnamon rolls
    10. coffee
    11. soda
    12. caffeinated beverages
    13. chocolate
    14. alcohol
